Varta Asia Pacific-Milestone in Short

Varta was founded in Germany as Busche & Muller company in 1888. Through the years various changes and diversifications have taken place whereby some of these important events lead to the establishment of VARTA Microbattery Pte Ltd in Asia.

VARTA AG means VERTRIEB (SALES) AUFLADUNG (CHARGING) REPARATUR (REPAIR) TRANSPORTABLER (TRANSPORTABLE) AKKUMULATOREN (STORAGE BATTERIES).



1972 Set up manufacturing plant, VARTA Pte Ltd in Singapore to tap the vast potential of the Far East market
1975 Set up sales office in Hong Kong
1980 Set up sales office in Japan
1982 VARTA Pte Ltd expanded to become the Far East Regional Headquarters
1985 Set up sales offices in Taiwan and South Korea
1987 Corporate name was changed from VARTA Pte Ltd to VARTA Batteries Pte Ltd in Singapore to reflect the products Varta produces and offers
1988 100th Anniversary of Varta
1991 Set up assembly plant in Batam, Indonesia
1996 Set up representative office in Beijing, China
1997 Relocation of button cell manufacturing to Ellwangen, Germany to fully automate production
1998 The Portable Battery Division comes under Varta Gerätebatterie GmbH
2001 Set up joint-venture plant, VARTA TWS Batteries (Guangzhou) Co. Ltd. to cater for the growing demand for micro batteries in China
2001 Varta establishes Microbatterie GmbH as a subsidiary of VARTA AG to focus on new markets and specialize in innovative technologies
2002 VARTA Microbattery GmbH was established as an independent company
2002 Expansion of assembly plant in Batam, Indonesia to handle battery pack assemblies.
